This technology employs a diode laser that penetrates the skin to target hair follicles. The laser’s energy heats and disables the root of each follicle, stopping future hair growth. Typically, an average of six sessions is necessary to treat all hair, as follicles are always at varying stages of development.

The most requested areas of the body to be treated with laser hair removal are the face, neck, forearms, back, abdomen, legs, bikini line, and underarms.

Laser hair removal can result in up to 90% permanent reduction after your series of treatments has been completed. Once the unwanted hair has fallen out, it will likely not return. However, new hair follicles can still develop — and these new follicles will grow new hair.

Under the care of our certified and skilled medical aesthetician, our treatments are extremely safe. Specifically, Fusion Light & Dark features state-of-the-art monitoring systems and automatic temperature shut-off mechanisms to safeguard the skin.

While some laser hair removal treatments may be uncomfortable, Fusion Light & Dark features an integrated skin cooling surface, one of the largest among hair removal devices. This design enhances comfort during treatment, leading most patients to report that Fusion Light & Dark is very tolerable.

The ideal candidates for laser hair removal possess lighter skin tones with darker hair, have not experienced skin cancer or pigmentation, do not suffer from skin conditions or have raised scars, and are not taking Accutane acne medication. It is also recommended for patients to not be pregnant for this treatment.

Prior to your laser hair removal appointment, it is important to shave the treatment area with a clean and new razor on the day of your appointment. It is also recommended that you avoid waxing or tweezing hairs in the treatment area for six weeks, as well as refrain from sun exposure for two weeks before and after the appointment. Additionally, you should avoid using spray tans or self-tanner for two weeks leading up to the treatment.

Before treatment begins, your skin will be cleansed and prepped and we will provide you with eye shields. Numbing cream is not typically needed. We will apply a gel to help with conduction, and treatment will begin. The Fusion Light & Dark handheld device will move quickly across your skin, emitting pulses of powerful light as it goes. It includes a built-in cooling device on the tip to help keep you comfortable. Treatment time will vary depending on which areas you’re having treated.

Following your treatment, you may experience a temporary sunburn-like sensation in the treated area, which can be alleviated with the use of a cold pack or aloe vera. While some patients may experience short-lasting color changes, redness, and swelling, blisters are a rare occurrence. In the event of blistering, it is important to immediately notify our office. To ensure optimal results and prevent complications, it is recommended that you avoid sun exposure and any other skin treatments for at least two weeks. Additionally, do not wax or tweeze any hairs in the treated area.

A few days following your laser hair removal treatment, you’ll notice your treated hairs beginning to fall out. These will actually grow back, but when they do, they will be much finer. These finer hairs will continually fall out and grow back again until they don’t grow back at all.
