What is Kybella?

Kybella is an injectable treatment that helps reduce fat under the chin and on other areas of the body with the help of its active ingredient, synthetic deoxycholic acid. Kybella is the only FDA-approved injectable developed specifically for submental fat, treatments are quick, and results can be permanent.

Benefits of Kybella

  • Improves a double chin
  • Non-surgical treatment
  • No anesthesia, incisions, or scarring
  • Treatments take 15- 20 minutes
  • Long-lasting results; permanent for most patients

The Science of Kybella

Kybella’s active ingredient, deoxycholic acid, is a molecule that our body naturally produces. The purpose of deoxycholic acid is to break down and absorb fat, and when this is injected into unwanted areas of fat, it causes so much trauma to the cell that fat can never be stored there again. These damaged fat cells eventually become metabolized by your body and are carried away through your lymphatic system.

Who Chooses Kybella?

Kybella is very popular for individuals who dislike the appearance of their profile and double chin. Many people try to hide this issue with collars, scarves, a beard, or by holding their head a certain way — but these are only temporary solutions. Kybella is often chosen by those who want to restore their slim, youthful submental contour.

How Safe is Kybella?

Kybella is very safe. It has been FDA-approved since 2015 for dissolving fat under the chin. When administered by a licensed, experienced, skilled medical professional, Kybella is a safe and effective procedure.

Our aesthetic injector is extensively experienced using Kybella and trains other injectors on how to safely use the product. She also takes every precaution to reduce the risk of adverse side effects.

During your consultation with us, we will go over the risks of receiving kybella in Boynton Beach so that you are fully educated on the product.

Kybella Treatment Details

Before your Kybella injections, we will cleanse and prep your skin. Ice is applied to the treatment area to keep you as comfortable as possible.

Your aesthetic injector will gently inject small aliquots of the product into target areas of stubborn fat. You will feel some pressure and may also sense a mild burning, but we maximize comfort using specialized needles and injection techniques.

After the injections are complete, your aesthetic provider will wrap the area with a compression garment and ice.

Downtime and Results

After Kybella injections, the most common side effects are soreness and swelling. Many patients also experience bruising, burning, and numbness. The swelling may last more than a week, but for some, it’s only a few days. Once the swelling has decreased, the destroyed fat cells are gone forever.

Typically, we recommend 2-4 Kybella treatments to achieve desired results. These sessions are spaced out by at least 2 months. Once you’ve completed your series of treatments, you will not require maintenance appointments.
