What to Expect During Your PRP Treatment

Before your PRP treatment, we will cleanse and prep your skin. Depending on how your PRP will be administered (injections, microneedling, etc.), you may also be given a topical anesthetic.

PRP treatments consist of three steps: a blood draw, the separation of the plasma, and the administration of the plasma.

We will draw 2 vials of blood from you, and then the blood will be placed into a centrifuge (spinning machine) to separate the plasma from the red blood cells and other components. Once the plasma is separated, it will be placed inside of a syringe so that it can be administered to your skin.

PRP Results

After PRP, you’ll be able to resume your regular activities, although you may experience red skin, soreness, bruising, itching, and/or scabs at the treatment sites for a day or so. A cold pack can be used to minimize discomfort or swelling.

It’s important to understand that results are gradual with PRP. Typically, a series of 3 sessions, spaced 4-6 weeks apart, is required for optimal results. Some patients notice improvement after just one session. Once your series of treatments are complete and results have settled, the benefits may last for more than a year.
