Chemical
peels FAQs:
A VI Peel is a chemical peel that targets moderate-depth skin issues, improving texture and reducing signs of aging. It utilizes a blend of ingredients, including salicylic acid, TCA (trichloroacetic acid), phenol and hydroquinone. VI Peels are suitable for all skin types and can be administered every 4 to 6 weeks to reduce pigmentation issues, fine lines, and wrinkles.
The VI Peel is a quick and convenient treatment that can be completed within 15 minutes. Prior to application, your face will be properly cleansed to eliminate any impurities. This process maximizes the effectiveness of the peel. During the procedure, the first layer is applied, inducing a tingling or numbing sensation to the skin’s outermost layer. This layer primarily targets the upper skin cells. The second layer follows, targeting dead skin cells and toxins. As the phenol works to exfoliate and purify the skin, it creates a “frosting” effect, which is a significant indication of the process’s progress. Once dried, the peel can be worn throughout the day, but should be removed after 4-6 hours.
After applying your VI Peel, use the post-peel kit provided about 4-6 hours later, but at least one hour before bed. Don’t worry about skin discoloration during the peeling process, which starts about three days later. The end result will be smoother, firmer, clearer, and more youthful skin. Follow our aftercare instructions closely for optimal results.
While VI chemical peels are generally well tolerated, there is a possibility of experiencing uncommon side effects. These side effects can include burning, discoloration, swelling, or an allergic reaction.
If you are considering a VI Peel chemical peel, our consultation process will evaluate your current health status, medications, and skin type to determine if you are a suitable candidate. The ideal candidate for this treatment should not be pregnant or nursing, seek mild to moderate skin improvements, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and have patience for the peeling process.
To determine how frequently you should receive a VI Peel, your provider will evaluate your skin’s needs. Waiting for a minimum of 4 weeks between treatments is recommended.
Due to the ingredients TCA or salicylic acid, we don’t recommend VI chemical peels for women who are pregnant or nursing.
