The Science of Botox

When you make an expression such as a frown or a squint, eventually a wrinkle will form due to the years of muscle use. Botox in Boynton Beach works by temporarily blocking the transmission of nerve impulses that go to these muscles. By stopping the muscles that are creating wrinkles, the wrinkles become much less visible.

Expectations Before And After Treatment

What to Expect During a Botox Treatment

Patients love how quick, painless, and convenient Botox treatments are. The typical session time is 15-20 minutes, with no downtime. At this time, most patients feel refreshed and more confident with their new look. You will have a two-week follow-up with us to check your results. In order to maintain your outcome, you will need to return for maintenance injections after a few months.

Improve Face Balance and Symmetry

Botox can be used to achieve facial balance and symmetry by targeting specific muscles in the face.

Muscle Relaxation

Botox is injected into targeted facial muscles responsible for causing wrinkles, lines, or asymmetry. It works by temporarily paralyzing or relaxing these muscles. By doing so, it reduces their ability to contract forcefully, which is a common cause of facial asymmetry.

Addressing Hyperactivity

Some individuals may have overactive facial muscles on one side of their face, leading to asymmetry or imbalances in their expressions. Botox can be used to selectively weaken these overactive muscles, helping to create a more balanced appearance.

Smoothing Wrinkles

Botox is commonly used to smooth out wrinkles and fine lines, such as crow's feet around the eyes or frown lines between the eyebrows. By relaxing the muscles responsible for these lines, it can restore symmetry to the face and create a more youthful, even appearance.

Brow Lift

Botox can be strategically injected to lift and shape the eyebrows, making them more symmetrical and balanced. This can help improve the overall symmetry of the upper face.

Jaw Contouring

In some cases, Botox can be used to address issues related to jawline asymmetry caused by overactive jaw muscles. It can help create a more balanced and harmonious lower face appearance.

Lip Symmetry

Botox injections can be used to adjust the balance and symmetry of the lips. By targeting specific muscles around the mouth, it can help create a more even and aesthetically pleasing lip shape.

It's important to note that achieving facial balance and symmetry with Botox requires careful assessment and a customized treatment plan tailored to the individual's unique facial features and concerns.  Our experienced team at Beauty Within can help you achieve effective results.

“I had Botox done by Nicole. I am picky with my Botox, but I am very happy. I absolutely loved her technique. I am no stranger to Botox, [and] notice some providers’ techniques hurt more than others. Nicole has a light touch, and I had no bruising. I love the way it looks. I will definitely be back.”

What Is the Difference Between Botox and Dermal Fillers?

Like dermal fillers, Botox is an injectable treatment used primarily on the facial skin. However, there are several key differences between Botox and dermal fillers. For one, dermal fillers are made with synthetic hyaluronic acid, whereas the active ingredient in Botox is a neurotoxin called botulinum toxin type A. Dermal fillers reduce signs of aging skin by adding volume and giving the treatment area a fuller appearance. Botox, on the other hand, prevents the facial muscles from communicating with the nerves, which prevents the muscles from contracting.

As a result, the facial skin becomes smoother, and the fine lines and wrinkles disappear. And on average, the results provided by dermal fillers tend to last several months longer than the results offered by Botox. However, Botox in Delray Beach & West Palm Beach is usually more affordable than most dermal fillers.

Downtime: What to Avoid

Although you’ll be able to return to your regular day, common side effects after receiving Botox injections are mild swelling and redness at the injection sites. These should subside after an hour. Bruising is also possible.

Although there’s no major downtime with Botox, there are some physical restrictions:

  • Do not lie down for four hours after treatment
  • Do not exercise or undergo strenuous activity for 24 hours
  • Do not have a facial or massage for a couple of days

Botox Consultation at Beauty Within

Before you undergo Botox treatment, the first step will be to have a consultation with one of our medical providers. During this meeting, your provider will discuss the treatment with you and answer any questions you may have. They’ll also ask you about your aesthetic goals and specific hopes for the procedure.

To ensure that you’re a good candidate for Botox in West Palm Beach, your provider will have questions about your current health, medical history, allergies, and any medications you’re taking. This will help ensure that Botox will be both effective and safe for you.

If you decide to move forward with the treatment, a personalized treatment plan will be put together to ensure that you receive the beautiful results you’re looking for.

As part of this, we will calculate the precise product dosage according to your muscle mass and strength in the specific region of interest. Over the two weeks following the injection, the neurotoxin will provide a temporary reduction in muscle hyperactivity, thereby addressing the signs of aging in the treated area.
