BOTOX: The Gold Standard for Treating Wrinkles

Botox has made a name for itself as the gold standard for reducing the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles, as well as preventing future wrinkles from developing in younger patients. Since 2002, Botox has been keeping faces looking refreshed, rejuvenated, and more youthful.

Most Commonly Treated Areas with Botox

  • Vertical lines between the eyebrows
  • Horizontal forehead lines
  • Crow’s feet
  • Smoker’s lines around the mouth
  • Bunny lines at the nose
  • Downturned corners of the mouth
  • Masseter muscles that cause TMJ
  • Peau d'orange of the chin
  • Vertical neck bands

The Science of Botox

When you make an expression such as a frown or a squint, eventually a wrinkle will form due to the years of muscle use. Botox in Boynton Beach works by temporarily blocking the transmission of nerve impulses that go to these muscles. By stopping the muscles that are creating wrinkles, the wrinkles become much less visible.

What to Expect During a Botox Treatment

Patients love how quick, painless, and convenient Botox treatments are. The typical session time is 15-20 minutes, with no downtime. “I had Botox done by Nicole. I am picky with my Botox, but I am very happy. I absolutely loved her technique. I am no stranger to Botox, [and] notice some providers’ techniques hurt more than others. Nicole has a light touch, and I had no bruising. I love the way it looks. I will definitely be back.”

What Is the Difference Between Botox and Dermal Fillers?

Like dermal fillers, Botox is an injectable treatment used primarily on the facial skin. However, there are several key differences between Botox and dermal fillers. For one, dermal fillers are made with synthetic hyaluronic acid, whereas the active ingredient in Botox is a neurotoxin called botulinum toxin type A. Dermal fillers reduce signs of aging skin by adding volume and giving the treatment area a fuller appearance. Botox, on the other hand, prevents the facial muscles from communicating with the nerves, which prevents the muscles from contracting.

As a result, the facial skin becomes smoother, and the fine lines and wrinkles disappear. And on average, the results provided by dermal fillers tend to last several months longer than the results offered by Botox. However, Botox in Newport Beach is usually more affordable than most dermal fillers.

Downtime: What to Avoid

Although you’ll be able to return to your regular day, common side effects after receiving Botox injections are mild swelling and redness at the injection sites. These should subside after an hour. Bruising is also possible.

Although there’s no major downtime with Botox, there are some physical restrictions:

  • Do not lie down for four hours after treatment
  • Do not exercise or undergo strenuous activity for 24 hours
  • Do not have a facial or massage for a couple of days

Botox Consultation at Beauty Within

Before you undergo Botox treatment, the first step will be to have a consultation with one of our medical providers. During this meeting, your provider will discuss the treatment with you and answer any questions you may have. They’ll also ask you about your aesthetic goals and specific hopes for the procedure.

To ensure that you’re a good candidate for Botox in Newport Beach, your provider will have questions about your current health, medical history, allergies, and any medications you’re taking.
