What Exactly is Sculptra?

Technically, Sculptra is not an injectable dermal filler — however, it’s actually more of a volumizer and collagen stimulator. The active ingredient is synthetic poly-L-lactic acid, a biocompatible material that stimulates collagen production. When Sculptra is injected into the buttocks, it not only begins new collagen growth; it also fills out sagging tissues and delivers a shapely lift and contour.

What to Expect During Sculptra Buttock Augmentation

Because Sculptra is administered with simple injections, only ice is used to provide comfort, or a topical anesthetic may be applied if desired.

Lidocaine is also mixed in with the product to help with any discomfort. Before the injections, your skin will be cleansed and marked.

Once the injections are complete, the treated areas will be massaged for a few minutes to help the product spread properly.

Downtime and Results

After Sculptra buttock augmentation, you will be able to continue your regular activities, except for exercise or any that require your buttocks to be submerged in water, such as swimming or bathing. You’ll need to wait for the injection sites to close before you can do those activities. You may feel a bit sore the rest of the day and the day after treatment. Some patients also have mild bruising.

Results from Sculptra are gradual because of the collagen-building process. The earliest that results can be seen varies from patient to patient. On average, however, the results may be seen in eight weeks. The younger the patient, the faster the new collagen will develop.
