Lumecca is a skin rejuvenation treatment that targets various skin concerns using intense pulsed light (IPL). The treatment delivers intense pulses of light to target specific pigments in the skin, such as melanin and hemoglobin, which effectively destroys red and brown pigments.
Lumecca is used to address several skin issues such as age spots, sun damage, vascular lesions, rosacea and freckles. It is commonly used on areas like the face, neck, décolletage, and hands. With minimal downtime after treatment and sessions typically lasting as little as 15-30 minutes, Lumecca can provide optimal results after a single treatment. The treatment works best on fair to medium skin and is FDA-cleared for people with very fair to light brown skin tones (Fitzpatrick skin types I-IV).
For those considering Lumecca laser skin rejuvenation, it is ideal for those with a light to medium complexion who suffer from sun damage and rosacea, are not currently pregnant, have not recently exposed themselves to the sun or undergone sunless tanning, and do not have active cold sores.
Before and after undergoing Lumecca IPL skin rejuvenation, patients should avoid sun exposure for a minimum of two weeks. The procedure itself is quick and convenient, lasting only about 15-30 minutes depending on the size of the area. To ensure comfort, a superior numbing topical is used, along with protective eye shields and a conductive gel. The Lumecca handheld device is then used to cover the area, emitting powerful flashes of light that can be adjusted to your specific skin and concerns.
Patients may feel a slight sensation like a tiny rubber band snapping on their skin, but Lumecca’s sapphire cooling tip helps to minimize discomfort. While Lumecca IPL is a great standalone treatment, many patients opt to combine it with the other medical-grade skincare procedures we offer such as DiamondGlow facial or Morpheus8.
Following your Lumecca IPL photofacial, you may experience a sunburn-like sensation for up to an hour, with minimal recovery time or restrictions, aside from avoiding direct sunlight for at least two weeks. Within 7-10 days, your skin will clear up, although pigmented areas may temporarily appear darker, which is a natural part of the healing process. Eventually, these areas will darken, become raised, and eventually slough off, revealing new, healthier skin.
Full results can be expected after four weeks, with optimal outcomes typically achieved through a series of treatments scheduled every 4-6 weeks. Once your series is complete, you’ll love your bright, clear, and healthy complexion.
Our IPL sessions cost $250+, depending on what area is being treated. During your complimentary consultation with us, we can give you a clearer estimate of how much your specific cost will be.
Most patients enjoy their results from Lumecca IPL skin rejuvenation for 6-12 months following their corrective treatment. Many choose to have a maintenance treatment after this time to maintain results.
